Status Update

I just got back from a nice trip to Hong Kong in part to visit the great folks from Microwaves/videotage and also to visit the city/friends. Its a great place to spend two weeks with plenty of great food + fun times.

The rest of the summer seems set on reloading and getting back to work, catching up on work, starting new work. I'm excited to be back in chicago.

Patina Turner: Tina Turnered!

Patina Turner: Tina Turnered! Gordon's cover art, processed.

I have a friend named Gordon Tebo. He has an album named Patina Turner. I covered it:

get it here*
source code

this is made by indexing the signal of every frame/sec of Gordon's songs, and then doing the same for Tina Turner's songs. Then, I played Gordon's songs using Tina Turner's signal data, effectively calling the equivalent data from Tina's song through Gordon's current song. Someone got Tina Turnered!

*Oh, and this is not a derivation/build-upon.. its a break-down, get-down - tina turner ...

server, sound = outage()

server, sound = outage() completly unrelated

My server has been down for the past couple days, if you attempted to access the site and was turned away, my apologies, I did not miss my payment. :)

I've been working on a new sound project. I took a adam green (moldy peaches) song and a John Adams composition. I first index adam green's song based on the output signal of every frame of the song. I then did the same for the john adams piece. I then played the john adams piece using the values of the adam ...

Traversing space: radio nodes

Traversing space: radio nodes the route

I headed home this weekend. I always enjoy the processes of traveling through different npr station ranges as the trip progresses. Its a nice process to traverse the different nodes, as you go, often loosing or searching for some time for a new station. There's sometimes a direct translation, the current program is happening on the other station, but other times it's a new and different subject matter. It's a nice disconnect that parallels the distance traveled.

Phone Game: Brand Name Whore!

Phone Game: Brand Name Whore! consume all those purses!

I made this quick cell phone game for a friend's graduation gift. We joke about how some people *erhm* are brand name whores... so I made her a game showing what happens when you become a brand name whore...

The file to blue tooth to your phone is here:
cell phone game

I've also ported it to a java bean itself, so you can run it on your big-muscly computer - its just going to be very very small:

Its written with the Mobile Processing programming environment.
